Shincheonji Church of Jesus Celebrates 42 Years of Global Growth, Word-Centered Faith

Shincheonji, Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, a rapidly expanding Christian denomination, commemorated its 42nd founding anniversary on March 15th. The service, held at Cheongju Church with over 2,000 in-person attendees and a global online audience, reflected on the dedication of early believers who started in an apartment basement 42 years ago. Chairman Lee Man-hee emphasized the denomination's foundational principle: "there can be no faith apart from the Word," urging members to uphold a faith recognized by God and angels, particularly stressing the importance of the Book of Revelation.

From humble beginnings on mountains and in fields before its official founding on March 14, 1984, Shincheonji's growth is attributed to the "overwhelming power of the Word." Early members like Bak Bok-yeong and Jo Myeong-suk attest to the profound satisfaction and conviction found in its teachings, leading to tens of thousands joining annually. This growth is evident in the Zion Christian Mission Center, Shincheonji's Bible education hub, which saw a record 100,000 graduates in 2019 and 59,192 in 2023, many from international backgrounds, signifying a global spread of its gospel.

Now a globally recognized denomination, Shincheonji Church of Jesus actively expands its engagement through Word exchange MOUs with thousands of churches worldwide and significant community service. Members have demonstrated profound social responsibility, notably donating plasma during the COVID-19 pandemic and over 70,000 units of blood during a national shortage. The church also participates in disaster relief and local care initiatives, embodying the value of love.
